Once upon a time in a vast and beautiful world named Erenor there lived a girl named Mizzi. Yes I the legendary Mizzi of NyashNyash. So gather round the fire and allow me to bless your sweet little ears with a tale from my past!
My days used to be no different from anyone elses. I would awake to a breakfast of eggs and cooked Yata sliced before getting straight to my chores tending to the narcissus fields or some days loading up my Wagon to deliver the goods to the falcorth plains. Although my true dream was to one day serve a mighty King or Queen, perhaps even claim the title of a knight!
It was the man slave Shiiniigan who first introduced me to Queen Rikku, bumping into him many times on the road to Falcorth he would often share tales of his mighty people the NyashNyash and their beautiful Queen Rikku. I always insisted that there could be no woman more beautiful than I the Legendary Mizzi! But there was no convincing this simple but kind man slave, he stuck to his claim always and forever that Queen Rikku would always be the most beautiful lady in Erenor.
It didn't take long until Shiiniigan introduced me to his Queen and I requested a chance to prove my worth under her reign! Her reply was simple but joyful “Fine with me! But stop kneeling at my feet it's weird. “It was then I arose shivering with excitement and pride in my heart, for it was that day I became a true citizen of NyashNyash, however a mere citizen was a far cry from my Knightly dreams.
One day, the Queen gathered a small group of her most loyal servants.
“Good news, NyashNyash!” I keenly remember her stating. “A new dragon has arrived in our enemies kingdom. We shall ride and- ”
“I shall defeat it in the name of our Queen and her unrivaled beauty!” intterupted Shiiniigan, all puffed up with pride.
The man servant Shiiniigan rode off towards the hill the dragon had been spotted. With him we rode and the Queen, her other servants, knights and followers. No one wanted to miss the excitement. Of course being the legend I am I rode close behind.
As we reached the foot of the hill everyone cheered as Shiiniigan rode his reindeer up the path. When he reached the peak he turned around and waved before disappearing behind the hill.
It was then we heard the terrible roar of the dragon.
Then nothing more.
After a while, the Queen said, “I believe we have lost Shiiniigan. Who will be the next to try? ”
I remember everyone looking at each other before finally Frodo called out “I'll go my Queen!”
The Queen yawned and said “Good for you Frodo!”
Everyone cheered as Frodo rode up the mountain path. When he reached the peak of the hill, he turned and waved. But then a group of armed men came riding into view, scaled the hill and arrested Frodo for trading between cities under multiple names. A serious offence in Erenor.
“That's too bad,” sighed the Queen. “Oh, well! Who wishes to go next? ”
The group remained silent.
Being the legend I am I stood forward, raised my chin, puffed out my chest and called out. “I'll go in the name of my Queen!”
The Queen released a doubtful sigh but nodded “Very well although if you fail we will need to request aid outside of Kingdom. SQUIRE! Send a raven for the hero known as Boo! ” The Queen then waved a hand dismissively towards one of her servants.
“To battle, FOR QUEEN RIKKU!” I remember calling out as I charged up the hill. Upon reaching it's peak I turned around to wave but saw the Queen and her people retreating to the nearby town to await the hero Boo.
I reached for my ax raising it to the sky and shaking it in fury “I'll not let that Boo claim MY glory !.”
Releasing another yell, I put feet to ground charging down the hill and into the nearby cave.
There before me it loomed ..... The dragon. It was ten times taller than myself. Its scales were ruby, and thick as table ‑ tops. Magenta flame, tinged with white, licked from its mouth and nostrils. I remember it's green glowing eyes as it glared at me.
To my surprise the dragon snarled “I'm ready.”
Releasing my famed battle cry I led the charge alone straight towards the beast's belly, and straight on the dragon's belly struck my ax. But it was no use, even the dragon's stomach was covered by thick red scales and my beautiful ax snapped in two!
The dragon's laugh echoed throughout the cave.
I dropped my broken ax and drawing my blade. Ducking and diving I circled the dragon. CLANG! CLANG! sounded my sword on the beast's scales and I continued to work my way around the dragon like a mouse escaping a cat's paws. Sadly it was of no use, my blade bounced off uselessly every time.
Suddenly the dragon's paw knocked me off my feet. My armor clattered as I landed on my back, it felt as if my chest had collapsed as I laid with my blade in hand too stunned to move.
Looking up I heard the terrible roar of the dragon. I laid helplessly watching the dragon open its mouth. White-tinged magenta flame escaped his jaws heading right down towards me, even a legend like myself could't help but close her eyes.
I was expecting to be burnt to a crisp. But it didn't happen. It was only a few moments and instead I felt a cool breeze blowing over me, so I opened my eyes.
My sword was gone and all my expensive armor, I was almost completely naked! I was unwounded by the flame but stripped bare by its magical properties.
I got up slowly and walked over towards the Dragon as he stretched out lazily.
I asked him “Why didn't you destroy me?”
“Oh, I wouldn't do that,” he chuckled, grinning. “I just like to play a little. Life would be so boring without a good fight, now and then. ”
“But you killed our man servant!” I answered.
“No, I didn't!” he frowned. “He snuck out the back way. I guess he was ashamed of losing his armor, or being seen naked by his Queen. ”
“I tried to offer him some clothes but he ran before I could say anything. Take a look over at that treasure I've been guarding. You might find some spare armor. ” The dragon swung its head toward a dark corner of the cave.
So I did as he suggested and walked over to a nook in the cave wall. There hung a long golden robe that shone even in the dim light. Next to it, a huge leather-bound book.
I slipped on the robe it fit perfectly! Then I took a look at the book opening it, the letters looked strange but I recognized a few reading them out loud.
Suddenly a blue swirling portal erupted from thin air infront of me. Deciding the day couldn't get much stranger I dived into the portal.
It took me back home to Solis where I was eventually able to meet up with my Queen. However, before I could share my epic tale of the dragon that spared lives she had news of Boo and the very same Dragon, the mighty hero Boo had returned with a new prize to decorate her kingdom with, Rikku land. A large ruby scaled head mounted on a thick wooden plaque.
As the legend you all know me as of course it was not be who murdered the peaceful dragon, but here's a lesson to learn. Next time you find yourself ready to slay a foul beast hold your blade and try reason first. A book shouldn't always be judged by the tint of its cover.
